Mid-Drift was an optional film screening that Dr. Penny Light suggested that the class investigate. I attended the session not knowing much about the film itself, other than it was about the societal expectations of women’s bodies after childbirth.

After attending I came out of the class with a pretty different perspective on childbirth and pregnancy as a whole. As mentioned below in my response to the screening I talk about how my mother raised me to love my body and value what’s inside over your appearance. One thing that I left out was my disappointment in not only the education system but the medical system as well. A very large percentage of people today are procreating and its important for both men and women to understand the changes that a woman goes through during and after pregnancy.

Before attending history I don’t know that I would have thought about the subject so in-depth. I now realize that understanding the past has a significant effect of changing the outcome of the future.
